2012 Training Begins. :-)

They would be gentle to the weak, courageous to the strong, and terrible to the wicked. They swore to defend the helpless who called upon them for aid. They would hold all women sacred, and they would defend one another in any way they were asked. They were to be merciful to all men, gentle of deed, true in friendship, and faithful in love. Each Knight swore to the covenant and then kissed the hilt of his sword. All who heard their oaths shouted once more in acclaim.

The Oath of Chivalry  from King Arthur and the Knights of The Round Table by Howard Pyle

“You never see a boxer with a book.”

The above unattributed quote is one that I continually endeavour to fight against. I want to stress that I do not condone any members of our group to devote all their time on the study of combative arts.

There may be periods in our lives when our martial arts take prevalence over our mental education, but overall it should placed on a lower standing.  And it goes without saying that we should be spending more time with our families than with our sparring partners!

A punch drunk fighter does not contribute much to society, neither does an absent parent or partner who spends all of his/her precious time and resources in the juvenile dream of being a greater combatant.

When we meet let us train hard, let us use our training time to its greatest endeavour, but also let us know when to stop.

Wing Chun Kuen Study Group

The Wing Chun Kuen Study Group is a small group of martial art enthusiasts who regularly meet up  on a hillside terrace, near the north-eastern Italian/Slovenian city of Trieste/Trst, to study the Chinese boxing method of Wing Chun Kuen.

Through this blog we will publish articles and videos which we hope will be of interest to the Wing Chun Kuen community at large.

Direct contact with the group can be made through: mickey.bark@gmail.com
